Where A Tornado or Storm Victim Can Get Help

SHELTERS:

United Way of Central Alabama via AL Red Cross:
Three shelters are open at the following locations:
•First Baptist Church of Center Point - 1945 Center Point Parkway, Center

•Clay Community Center – 6423 Clay-Palmerdale Road, Clay, AL
•Springville First Methodist Church – 6471 U.S. Highway 11, Springville, AL
35146
In the coming days we will be meeting with the families affected and will assist them with their immediate emergency needs based on the extent of the damage to their homes. Affected families should call (205) 439-7800 or their local Red Cross office for more information about Red Cross assistance.


A FREE PLACE TO CAMP
A tree service business in Gardendale is offering a free place for storm victims to camp on their 72 acres of land. Riley Tree Service in Gardendale offers the following amenities to anyone displaced by the tornadoes who has a travel trailer and needs a place to stay, free of charge:
  • water supply
  • garbage pick-up
  • no electric hook up, so trailers would need generators

WATER, PLASTIC UTENSILS, PAPER TOWELS
Pleasant Grove, Al Tornado Updates via Scott McClellan If you know of a church in the affected areas of the storms that needs a supply of water, plastic utensils, paper towels, etc. Please have them call Unsheltered International in Cullman at 1-877-277-5838, ext 102.

Also--
The GBHS is also working with the Red Cross to provide temporary foster solutions for pets of those who have lost their homes as a result of these storms. If you live in a storm-affected area and do not have a safe place that you are able to go with your pet, please contact the GBHS at 205-397-8533.

Special note if anyone is missing their horses or livestock due to the flooding or recent tornadoes. Register them with www.netposse.com They waive their fee for natural disasters. They create a flyer and html page you can share with all info and photo you provide. They also send out email alerts to their many followers and people share them regionally in your area and nationally. Hope this helps anyone missing any animals.
